Teaching Artist/ActivityProvider

I wanted to be an artist for as long as I can remember. My first painting was with Bob Ross while watching the Joy of Painting at 7 years old. I grew up a self-taught artist and in my early 20’s went to college for Art and Design as well as Entrepreneurship. My goal was to own my own business someday, but needed a direction.

The direction came in an unusual way. My only work experience was with the elderly at a local retirement home and I had a passion for our dementia patients who always needed the extra attention. That’s when I met someone working as an art-based therapist. She would sit with our residents and hold one-on-one painting sessions with them. This sparked the idea for what would become the perfect combination of my two passions! I soon began training to paint with dementia patients as well and expanded what I learned to create adapted classes for groups at Independent living and assisted living facilities, adult day cares, memory cares, and rehabilitation centers. My clients were always so proud of their paintings and surprised at what they could accomplish! To inspire God-given creativity in those who never knew they could paint, gives them a priceless sense of accomplishment and self-worth. That’s why I do what I do.

I soon discovered that this is needed for all beginner painters in any stage of life. I now own my own art-based, service business Emily Seilhamer Art LLC, where I can help other beginner painters and crafters connect and grow as artists. All ages and talent levels are welcome!

The most important reason why I create is to SHARE my ideas. My hope is that they will spark that God given creativity within YOU and inspire you to create something beautiful. Anything is possible if you are willing to try! As a born again Christian, I believe God is the ultimate artist and has given us creative gifts in our own unique ways. Although I was born with oodles of it spilling out into all areas of my life, some of you may need some extra inspiration to get those creative juices flowing. I owe all my talent to the ultimate Creator and would be nothing without the creativity he put within me. I am created in His image, therefore I create. I hope you are inspired to create through the ideas I share.

Happy creating!
