DIY Brooch Art: Peacock

Old brooches in your jewelry stash? Turn them into a displayable work of art! My grandmother had quite the collection of brooches that were handed down to me and I didn’t want them to just sit in a box. Instead they are now displayed together in the shape of a peacock.

Watch the process in this video:

First you have to remove all the clips with a sharp pair of pliers. This will help them lay flat. Then frame a piece of fabric you want to display them on (I framed some fancy fabric and painted a black square in the center so the pattern wouldn’t take away from the brooches).

When the frame is ready, arrange the brooches on the fabric in any shape you want. Once they are in place you simply use super glue to attach each piece to the fabric.

If you have other costume jewelry you can use pieces from them as well. To fill in the blank spaces I used the pearls from a necklace and the silver chain from another to help outline the bird. I also used a little bit of paint to add the details to the face of my peacock!

What other shapes could you create from brooches? What about costume jewelry? Go frame some of your own! Happy creating 🙂
