DIY Seashell and Salt Dough Craft

Beach trip this year? Save those seashells and turn them into the perfect souvenir!

You will need:

  •  1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 1/4 cup water (add more if mixture is too dry).
  • Seashells

Instructions: Mix ingredients until it becomes a dough. Shape pendants on cookie sheet or tin foil. If you have cookie cutters you can make specific shapes. Any shells or beach glass you have can be added to the pendants by pressing them into the dough. No glue needed!

Doesn’t the whole wheat flour look like sand?!

For a string hole use a skewer to poke a hole before baking. You want to use a low heat setting for the oven while baking so they don’t burn. These pendants were thick and needed baked for 3 hours at 200 degrees. If pendants are thin, air drying outside is reasonable (especially on a hot day!) but may take 24 hours or more. Once dry you can paint designs or add string for necklaces!

For the necklaces I used brown twine but you could use any color ribbon or string you like!

What other things could you make from salt dough and seashells? I’d love to see what you come up with! Happy creating 🙂
