By cutting up old paint aprons, I made an apron dress.
If you didn’t know, I have a business called Connecting in Color where I teach classes to residents in skilled, assisted living, and memory care facilities for over 4 years now. While my residents love the classes, they can be pretty messy! I told them not to worry because I would turn those messes into something they helped design one day.
Before:
This past year I decided to finally upgrade the aprons they use in my classes because the old ones were covered in stains. By cutting up the old aprons and finding the most colorful stains I refashioned an outfit I can really paint in!
After:
Each stain is a special reminder of all the wonderful people I’ve worked with so far who didn’t think they could paint, but ended up discovering a new talent.
I also saved the tie strings and turned them into a belt:
All the “happy accidents” that happened over the years created one awesome outfit. Would you try this? What else could you do with old paint stained fabric. I’ll be sure to make something else after a few years when new aprons get just as messy!
