Upside Down Christmas Tree

Upside down Christmas trees are a popular trend this year, but the price to buy one is pretty steep…so why not DIY it?!

To kick off our annual unconventional Christmas tree tradition we made our own.

We already had a fake tree so tying a pvc pipe to the inside (with about a foot extra sticking out the top) would help stand it from it’s tip. We created a special wood box stand with a round hole going through the center to feed the excess pvc through.

What we didn’t expect was GRAVITY to take a toll! Our fake tree has limbs that fall outwards on a hinge when upright…so upside down created a super skinny tree effect xD

To help fluff the branches we stuffed the insides with balled up newspaper instead!

Once the tree was secure against the ceiling we disguised the base, added some ornaments, and some empty boxes wrapped to look like presents sitting at the top.

Finished! We loved the look of the ornaments hanging down like icicles vs. hanging into the lower branches. You can really see anything you hang because there’s empty space beneath them.

Would you try this trend?
